When Marleen Brooks noticed that someone had left her a note, she immediately opened it and broke her heart when she saw what was written on it.
Her 90-year-old neighbor, Wanda, had just lost her son, something no parent should ever endure, and she has been suffering from loneliness ever since. Her son was the last person in her life, but after losing him, she did something that not many of us could do because of pride. She asked for help.
Here is what was written: “Would you like us to become friends? I am 90 years old and I live alone. All my friends have died. I’m so lonely and scared. Please, anyone. ”
And so, these two women became friends very quickly! Even Brooks’ best friend got into the equation.
When they entered Wanda’s house, the woman said, “I hope you don’t think I was an idiot that I wrote what I wrote for you, but I had to do something. Thank you so much for answering and coming. I have lived here for 50 years and I don’t know any of my neighbors. ”
And of course, Brooks didn’t think it was stupid what the woman did, not at all, on the contrary, she told her she could call her whenever she needed a partner! I bet the two will become very close.
It is important to remember that older people often experience loneliness. If you suspect that someone close to you is feeling isolated, contact him/her and make them understand that they are not alone. Plus you’ll get a great friend!
