Young people are often amazed by the story of Tarzan, the boy who was left alone on an island, left to die without his parents. The young Tarzan eventually comes to live and grow up in a family of monkeys and take over their habits. Eventually, he is saved.
A bizarre but real female version of this story is that of a girl from Uttar Pradesh, India. She was found by police while officers were randomly patrolling the area surrounding a nature reserve and saw a little girl playing with several monkeys, without any worries in the world.
The police were amazed, approached the child, and tried to talk to her, but as they approached, she became more and more agitated by their presence, making monkey-like sounds. The police then understood that the monkeys had adopted the little girl and raised her as one of their own, which is why they seemed to be extremely protective of her.
People could not leave her there, so they took her to the hospital, where she was nicknamed the Little Mowgli, a reference to the Jungle Book. After a few months, the girl’s behavior and physical condition improved dramatically. Although she still prefers to walk on all fours, she has become more accustomed to using her feet for walking, and she feels much more comfortable inside buildings and around other people.
