Punctuality is appreciated everywhere. Doctors, hairdressers – people from all walks of life appreciate this quality. If someone arrives later, the whole program is turned upside down. It is right to take hours into account because many people’s plans depend on them.
But there are also situations that cannot be under the complete control of people. Sometimes the refusal to make an exception can become the cause of unpleasant or even tragic consequences.
This is the case of a 5-year-old girl. Ellie-May Clark was suffering from asthma. In the last six months, the girl suffered 5 serious attacks. January 26, 2015, took place one of those cases, while the girl was at school. The girl’s mother, Shanice, called a clinic to schedule an emergency consultation at 3:20 p.m. The clinic is located in Newport, South Wales.

In an hour it was resonated and rescheduled for 17:00. She agreed and confirmed that she would be in the clinic at 5:00 pm with her daughter, Dr. Roy.
Clark claims she was on the scene at 5:04 p.m., and that’s where it all started. But the clinic staff claims that the woman with the little girl arrived at 17:08 and they stayed in the waiting room to be called, until 17:18.

Just then, Dr. Roy’s secretary called him and he was informed of the patient’s arrival. The doctor refused to receive the patient who was 10 minutes late, according to the clinic’s rules. The secretary was then asked if the patient could be scheduled for the next morning. But no one paid attention to the woman’s requests.
At the same time, another doctor became interested in this case and was amazed how a patient who does not belong to their clinic can benefit from an urgent appointment.
Unfortunately, no vacancy was found, the schedule was loaded until the next day at 10:35. That same night, the girl suffered a very serious attack. She died of suffocation. The ambulance that was called failed to arrive in time.
As a result of the investigations, it was discovered that Dr. Roy was an irascible person. In the documents was indicated as the main reason – Dr. Roy’s refusal to accept the patient who came at the right time. It was also noted that there was no indication that this case was an emergency. And my mother was not told what to do in such cases. The doctor’s activity was suspended for six months.

According to the Daily Mail, the director-general of the medical center, confirmed that the family was not notified how to behave in such cases, did not receive complete information and nothing was done about that situation. It was also mentioned that, in solving this case, they will take into account that the interests of the family take precedence.
The Clark family was shocked as a result of what happened. They believe that Dr. Roy must be held responsible for the death of their little girl. Although no punishment will be returned to their child, they just want justice.
If you are impressed by this case, share it with your friends to find out what injustices there are.
