A woman beaten and put in a coma by her ex-boyfriend tells that she was saved by a selfie, here’s how it happened.
Colleen Higgins was left to die for two days, with brain injuries after her ex-boyfriend Daniel Moore beat her in her house in front of her two children. 48 hours later the woman was lying on the couch in a coma. Coleen was forced to take a picture to see her injuries and what was done to her, to understand what happened.
The 36-year-old man received a 6-year sentence after admitting to beating the woman. Coleen said, “I had no idea what happened when I woke up on the couch in horrible pain. I almost couldn’t believe he was the one who did this to me, my injuries were terrible. ”
The woman suffered brain injuries, her cheekbone was broken, her skull was fractured and she can no longer hear with one ear. But a year after the abuse, she finally has the courage to talk about what happened to her to warn other women.
Here is what she says: “She treated me like I was a princess, she was my model lover. I knew he had been accused of beating women in the past, but I thought our relationship was different. After 18 months, his behavior changed, he became aggressive and always controlled me. Then I found out he was cheating on me and I left him. The next thing I remember is that I woke up with horrible pain all over my body. All I could see was blood, and I knew I had to leave the house. I had just come out of a 2-day coma, but he said I was fine. I called my mother and when she came and saw me she took me to the hospital. I really think he would have let me die. But I survived and I want to warn all women who might be in the same situation: if you see signs of aggression, take action. ”
