Danika Heron was on the verge of death in what was to be a very happy day for her, turning 19 years old.

According to MailOnline, Danika was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 18 and was prescribed medication the day before her birthday. Unfortunately for her, she started taking them the very day she received them, and her body had a million toxic reactions to the substances in the drugs. Her body was completely covered in severe burns, later it will be proven that this is actually Steven-Johnson Syndrome, which causes severe burns to the skin, organs, and mucous membranes.

The Australian teenager was prescribed Lamictal and Keppra, which helped her with epileptic seizures before her birthday, but then began to swell her eyes and lips, and developed irritations all over her body. Initially, the doctors thought she had herpes and was sent home, but in 4 days her whole body would burn, and her condition could be fatal.

Her mother took her to another hospital where she was initially misdiagnosed, but tests showed the real disease and put her under proper treatment. If this disease is left untreated it can trigger a slow and extremely painful death, the feeling that the whole body burns outside and inside is unbearable.

It took her three and a half weeks to recover, but the fight was not over, she had lost all her hair, her nails, and scars all over her body. She will fully recover and says she can’t wait to start her normal life again.
