We hear a lot of stories about fathers leaving their wives and children and leaving home, but less often mothers who have just given birth and leave their child and husband.
This is what happened to Richard Johnson, whose life changed radically after his wife gave birth and left him and the child, leaving home. He believes the woman had developed postpartum depression. Just before he was left alone with the little girl, his wife took Persephona (the girl’s name) and ran away with her. Then she called him and told him to come after her because otherwise, she would give the child up for adoption.

After Richard recovered his daughter, he faced an uncertain period, full of insecurity and accommodation. He hadn’t raised a child before, and he didn’t know what a daddy would be like. Desperate for help, Richard searched the Internet a lot and found a group of single dads on Facebook called “Dad’s Life” as moral support, which helped him tremendously, his life turned 180 degrees, and for the better.

He wrote the following message on Facebook:
“Life as a Father,
My name is Richard Johnson and I am the only father of a beautiful little girl named Persephona. Her mother left us a month after the birth and we still don’t know exactly why, but we suspect that part of the blame lies with the post-natal depression. In the first few weeks when she and I were left alone, I accidentally came across your Facebook page. I was so excited and stressed by the idea of being a single father that I kept telling myself that I would not be able to do my job well.
I read all the books for new parents that I could find and I stayed on Youtube I think over 1000 hours to watch tutorials on how to comb your face’s hair well, how to dye your nails, about theories that explain how to deal with certain hypothetical situations as a parent. After I found your Facebook page and saw that there are many other dads like me, I started to calm down and gain more confidence in myself. It really helped me with everything I went through.
Now we are both very happy and continue to grow together every day. Now she is 10 months old, and I am looking for friends to find out parental advice constantly. My daughter and I have come a long way together, and we clearly owe some of his success to this Facebook page and the people behind it. So, on both sides, we want to thank you.

Sincerely,
Persephona & Richard Johnson “
