Deryn Blackwell, a 13-year-old boy, was diagnosed with leukemia when he was just 10 years old.
A year later he was told that he still has a form of body cancer that only 5 people in the world have and there is no cure for it.
However, no one in the world has been detected with both diseases at the same time in the body. After about 4 years in the hospital and getting treatment, nothing worked, so his mother, Callie, turned to cannabis.
The mother says she knows she made a decision that will terrify many parents, and she terrified them because, in the end, she didn’t see any case in which if someone smoked cannabis she was fine, but if she could. help the child then she gave up prejudices and gave this drug a chance.
While his father struggled to get this drug, the child’s condition worsened day by day and the doctors told them that if no improvement was seen, he would be placed in palliative care.
After the unusual medicine was given to the boy, 10 minutes later, Deryn told his mother that the pain had subsided and he felt more relaxed.
However, his pain continued to return and until 2013 the child was moved from a room to a hospice where his funeral was planned.
One morning Deryn woke up and told his mother he didn’t want morphine anymore because it made him feel like he wasn’t here. Unable to bear to see her child suffer in this way, Callie secretly gave her son a small amount of cannabis directly in his mouth, every time he was in pain.
She says that this way, the child no longer had panic attacks and her ultimate goal was to let him die with his mental faculties intact, unaffected by pain or morphine.
After a short time, the hospice called her and told her that they did not think Deryn would die because from the moment his mother secretly administered cannabis to him, he had gradually regained his strength.
The child returned to school and despite the fact that he did not go to school too often, not at all, he managed to graduate from high school at the age of 17.
His mother says: “I see my miracle, which is my child, every day and I know in my heart that whatever life puts in our way we will face. I’ve always done it. ”
