Bullying is spread all over the world, and it’s happening mostly in schools, where children should learn in a peaceful and happy environment. There were some states were laws were implemented for these violent kids, parents could even stay behind bars for their aggressive behavior. While most schools and other communities are constantly looking for new ways to stop this disease, this dad came with a strange solution, after he realized his daughter was among the violent kids in her school.
Randy Smalls was a victim of bullying himself from a young age, making him feel very bad and affecting his self-esteem. Even so, he worked hard and managed to climb up and get a good career. Having a daughter, he was worrying that she might experience the same situations he been through in his childhood. In fact, it was actually vice-versa, to his amazement.
It started like this. He received a phone call from the school, associating his daughter with a bullying case. At first, he thought that his daughter is the victim, reminding him of how bad it is to be in that situation. The school director told him that his daughter, Re’ Onna Smalls, was in fact the bad character in the story.
She along with some friends laughed about a colleague, saying that she is not fashionable. Ryan, the bullying victim, was mocked because of her dress code, the kids telling her that she’s poor. After Randy thought about it for a while, he came up with a brilliant idea that would affect both sides, the bully and the victim as well.
Re’Onna, his daughter was what it’s called a shopaholic, and next weekend she was supposed to go to a mall for a shopping session with her dad. When his daughter arrived home that day, Randy told her that the shopping week-end is canceled and her victim will enjoy the sales instead. As you can imagine, Re’Onna was outraged, asking for forgiveness.
Randy didn’t give up and continued with the lesson. Randy and Re’Onna met with Ryan and her mother at the mall, spending hundreds for the girl that was verbally abused by his own child. As they started to talk and getting to know each other, Randy and Re’Onna found out that been through a rough period, after she lost her father, aunt, and grandpa. That was putting even more pressure on the act she made, because Re’Onna realized the gravity of her own actions.
As you can see in the following video, Re’Onna understood and told her father that she would never repeat what she did. The lesson Randy taught her was truly valuable and efficient, making her understand that is always good to be kind to others, because we never know what other people are going through, despite the appearances.
