Australia has faced many wildfires, and this lead to the destruction of dozens of animal homes and families. Among the poor affected animals, koalas suffered a lot because of the bushfires. The beautiful creatures don’t make it alive every time, due to the vast areas affected. There are also many successful rescue missions, and this video shows one of them..made by a dog. Want to see the ending? It’s pretty amazing though.
During an Australian bushfire season, many persons offered as volunteers to save as many animals as possible from the raging flames. One of these persons and its companion, a dog named Keli, were out in the forests to look for endangered animals.
At some point, the volunteer noticed the four-legged hero approaching with something in it’s mouth. It appeared to be a koala, and most likely Keli managed to smell and track the sweet thing, proving to be a furry hero. The little koala was in a bad shape and the team took him as quickly as possible to the closest animal hospital for further investigation and intensive care.

Upon arriving at the place, the vets announced the saviors that the victim of the bushfires developed a bad inflammation and it was also overweight. Even that they were aware of the small changes, the doctors fromKoala Hospital Port Macquarie didn’t lose hope and proved to be so dedicated To saving the koala, who was named after the dog that rescued him, Keli. Dogs have such good hearts, and if there’s anyone still having doubts in regards to that, this video should make them change their minds.
The infection was treated and the little baby recovered. His story amazed many people as it got known on Facebook, after the vets photographed the little baby. “It will be a long process, and we are confident that he will develop into a healthy koala before release into the wild.”, the doctors claimed. After a few weeks, the animal fully recovered and reached a healthy weight of two pounds, with the infection cured.

Until Keli reaches around five pounds, the vets will keep on closely looking after him. When the weight target will be met, the reintroduction in the wild process starts in order for the animal to re-accustom with his natural habitat.
If you want to offer a hand in saving these endangered species, you can support by adopting a koala, donate money on the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie website, or even volunteer. Let’s make sure that we make this story known and why not..help these centers continue their noble mission using the options mentioned earlier.
