Patients produce thick mucus in the bronchi and digestive tract, which leads to microbial infections. Knowing how fragile life is and without a guarantee for tomorrow, the two decided to get married as soon as possible, so in 2012 they organized a wedding that was beautiful.
Katie and Dalton were eventually admitted to various hospitals, but talked to each other on the phone every day, using video calling. The two were on the lung transplant waiting list and were looking forward to receiving good news, as if someone compatible had been found to do them good and give them a chance at a better life.
One day, Dalton’s mother answered the video call and told him that his condition was serious. Dalton’s condition was getting worse by the day, he was getting weaker and weaker and Katie was worried about him, so she made an amazing decision. She gave up her place on the list of those waiting for the lungs, so her boyfriend had an extra chance. Not long after, he received the big news and was put into operation immediately.
