He selected valuable things found in people’s garbage – how the museum created by this man looks like impressed so many people
It’s really amazing how much garbage people throw away in a year. Many things can be reused and apparently, some people make sure of this. In this article, we present the story of a gentleman who opened a museum and the exhibits are… garbage. Yes, you read that right. No, it is not exactly that type of garbage but selected pieces, collected during 30 years of activity. A man with a true-life story that tells us more about a generation that used to throw, instead of repair.

Nelson Molina has been working in the sanitation department for 30 years and all this time, he has not only made sure that the streets of New York are clean, but he has also put together a real collection. Mr. Nelson began storing various things in his locker room at the department, but after several were assembled and realized that he doesn’t have enough space available, he rented a small storage studio. He collected a variety of things, typewriters, baseball items such as balls, figures, equipment but also toys, statuettes, photographs, and old documents.

He even has a section where he has a collection of Christmas items, things thrown by people after the holidays were over. The man does not stay far from the location of the mini-museum and says that he has visitors and if someone ever wants to retrieve something he will take a photo with that object and will gladly return them.
Mr. Nelson has been collecting since he was a child and it is a pleasant hobby for him. In his small space, he managed to gather a real piece of history, considering that he also owns objects from the period of the Second World War like uniforms or old pictures with soldiers.
He also says that people are throwing away more and more things that can be reused or recycled to help a cleaner and safer environment. Mr. Nelson has collected a lot of interesting and beautiful pieces during his 30 years of activity and after retiring, he will continue to manage the mini-museum. What do you think? It is more important than ever to recycle to take better care of our home, the Earth. Sharing this article with your loved ones can have a positive impact on the environment.
