Everyone was staring at the baby who was with her mother

Everyone was staring at the baby who was with her mother – eventually someone approached and did something that changed the lady’s day

According to studies conducted by the WHO, the probability of a child being born with Down Syndrome worldwide is 1 in 1000 to 1,100. In the United States alone, about 6,000 babies are born with this condition each year. It is very annoying and upsetting that people are so insistent sometimes and constantly look at people who are different in terms of appearance. A mother named Sophia recounts her experience while enjoying coffee at her favorite coffee shop. When she got a little bit angry because of some curious people, someone showed up and changed everything. Here is the message Pam posted on her social media page:

“As usual, I was sitting at the Tim Hortons Cafe with my daughter. Two ladies nearby began to stare at us and whisper. This often happens to us because my daughter Sophia was born with Down syndrome.

I watched as those women stretched their necks to see better, not caring that I was looking at them. This bothered me today. It really bothered me. Just then a couple approached me and I thought, “Oh, wonderful! More people want to take a closer look at us! ”

But it was something totally different that was about to happen, something that will change Pam’s day. It was a nice person that had only good intentions. Make sure you continue reading:

The man greeted Sophia with a clap and a handshake, and she smiled and greeted him. He looked me in the eye with tears and said, “I know a story I’d like to tell you, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to finish it without drowning in tears.”

I encouraged him to continue because I was curious. This meeting was not as I expected. He told me he looked at the news last night and saw an interview with a mother who had recently given birth to a child with a major disability. She had appeared on the news to defend her decision to keep her child. She defended her choice NOT to give up, despite the fact that doctors encouraged her to do so.

He said: “The idea is that we cannot know the impact of a man on the world. You can’t know what a person is capable of unless you give him a chance.” He looked at me just before he left and said, “You are a beautiful person. Your daughter is beautiful. Congratulations!”

I immediately started crying. I was sitting in the middle of the cafe crying in a napkin. This man was the first stranger to congratulate me on the birth of my daughter. He was the first foreigner to recognize his VALUE AND BEAUTY. In a world where my daughter’s life is gossiping, where everyone is staring at her, this man has seen how IMPORTANT she is.”

Certainly, this whole event changed his day dramatically, for the better. Like that good man said, you can’t know what impact a person can have on earth if you don’t give a chance. Everyone deserves a chance! If you agree and liked the perspective this stranger had, make sure that you share this story with your friends and family!
