Wally the Pit Bull has an amazing personality but his looks don’t help him get a forever home

Adopting is such a wonderful thing. You basically save a life, offering a better life and a forever home. When thinking about adopting a pet, we usually look at the aspect, we want the cutest, the most beautiful the strongest and we take into consideration the personality as well. But first, we look at the “cover”. It’s normal to do that, but what happens when personality beats beauty? Below is the story of Wally, a Pit Bull with a difficult past that left him with some marks, making it difficult to be adopted. He might not have the prettiest face but his heart is golden!

Wally is a ten years old Pit Bull and he had a rough life. Had health issues that left him with a blind eye and more than that, a skin infection. He was brought to a shelter in Long Island, New York named Town of Islip Animal Shelter. Quickly he became a good friend to many shelter workers who noticed his amazing personality. Unfortunately, when it comes to adoption, people look for more than that, and the “scars” made him less attractive and therefore more difficult to be taken home by someone.

“Wally loves to hang out and would do anything for some food!”, Danielle Gorle said, who is a veterinary doc at that shelter.

When he was brought to the shelter, he wasn’t so happy and couldn’t fit in with other dogs. Wally is not so friendly to other animals, probably because of some incidents that occurred in the past. He just needs to be the only animal in the house and everything would be fine. The shelter staff posted a video and a story online and soon it became viral. Potential adopters came by to see him and after a few visits, someone fell in love with his good heart!

Wally will receive the love and affection he needs in his new home, he gets along very well with his new family and loves to hang out in the parks and belly rubs make him fall asleep in a blink of an eye. Big thumbs up for the shelter staff that proved to be so devoted to finding Wally a loving environment.

After all, he deserved it considering the past experiences. Let’s share Wally’s story and when it comes to adopting a furry friend, double-check for his personality as well!
