In the picture, we can see the two surgeons who seem to have no energy even to stand, but they have a very good reason for it. They had just participated in an operation that required 3 surgeons, 6 anesthetists, and 8 nurses, the operation had lasted 32 hours. Together they performed 6 separate surgeries to remove a series of brain tumors from a single patient.
From Saturday morning from 8:30 to Sunday, these surgeons worked very patiently on the operating table. According to the Chinese newspaper Global Times, this was the longest operation ever performed at Fujian University Hospital.
Here is what one of the surgeons, Dr. Chen Jianping, said about the operation: “The patient had both an aneurysm and a hemangioblastoma. We needed to remove two tumors in one operation, which requires 6 different surgical procedures. It can be difficult, risky, and long. If you somehow removed one tumor and the other one breaks, it can be fatal. “
During the operation, the doctors only took short breaks, and even the patient’s family was worried, they did not know if the doctors would withstand this physical test.
