Two twin girls from Gloucester gave their parents the biggest surprise when they were born.

Donna Aylmer, the mother of the children, was the happiest when she found out that she would give birth to twins. However, when they came into the world, she had the surprise of her life: the girls had different colors.

Lucy has light skin, red hair, and blue eyes, while her sister Maria has olive skin, black and curly hair. When they see them, people can’t believe they are sisters, but especially twins.

The explanation for this phenomenon is simple, if we take into account that Donna, the girls’ mother, is half of Jamaican origin, while their father, Vince, is white.

The twins, totally different, were born in 1997. The two explain a rare phenomenon in genetics, surprising even the medical staff who witnessed the birth at that time.
