Denny Bland was walking alone on the beach near North Top Sail in North Carolina when she came across a shivering object, a shocking discovery. At first she could not believe that the object discovered was real!
After doing some digging, she found out that it was actually a giant tooth of a megalodon shark. In case you haven’t noticed yet, this shark was big, incredibly big. In fact, this shark makes Tyrannosaurus rex, the famous dinosaur, look tiny by comparison.
It seems that these sharks could reach lengths of over 18 meters, but, fortunately for us, they died 2.6 million years ago. No offense to the shark in the movie “Jaws”, but anyone who came across a megalodon would have needed an EXTREMELY large boat at the time. This tooth, which measures about 15 centimeters, can give you an idea of how big these monsters were.
It is believed that this tooth was swept from the depths of the ocean by the currents of Hurricane Juaquin. That, or is there somewhere a megalodon that has survived and needs a visit to the dentist…
