She says we shouldn’t be disgusted by the idea of eating cockroaches at all!

Kremena Despinova, 28, of Sofia, Bulgaria, says we shouldn’t be disgusted by the idea of eating cockroaches at all. On the contrary, the young woman says that we should add them to our daily diet.

Kremena has been experimenting with insect cooking for a year and a half after discovering that they are a good source of protein.

“We were looking for the best source of protein that did not contain anything artificial such as hormones, antibiotics, or pesticides and that contained all the essential amino acids,” she said.

“Last fall I was looking for recipes on the Internet and I found a company in the USA that makes protein bars from cricket flour. After seeing this, I ordered dried insects representing crickets, locusts, and buffalo worms. I remember very clearly the moment when I held a cricket between my fingers and was about to put it in my mouth and I could feel that feeling of curiosity and exaltation before experiencing its texture and taste. It was incredible. Honestly, I loved the instant taste. ”

And now, Kremena fills his stomach with a variety of recipes that she combines with beetles, crickets, worms.
