Losing a Pet is a Devastating Moment, and Grieving Pet Owners Need to be Taken Serious!

The relationships between pets and owners are very special, at least most of them. At some point they are not a simple pet, just a cat, or just a dog for example, they become a member of the family that deserves the same amount of love and care. Sadly, when someone is losing a furry companion, other people are not taking their loss so seriously, saying that losing an animal is not the same thing as losing a human person. TOTALLY WRONG! Not all people have pets so clearly they are not aware of such emotions. Losing a companion is a staggering moment, and grieving people need to be looked after and understood.

All people are different, so we are responding to loss differently, depending on many factors such as the personality, age, or the number of memories you gathered with your fur-baby. Think about the people that are living alone with their pets, imagine the bond that they create in time. See?

Different circumstances make people feel different levels of pain. In case you know pet-owners experiencing such moments, take some time and talk to them, but before that..make sure you choose your words carefully. When we were children, some of us been told that words can’t hurt you. If you think about it now for a few moments, you’ll realize that’s not true at all. Words can cause serious psychic and emotional damage.

Sorrowful people are also in pain due to the amount of memories they created with their companions. Most of pet-owners have activities on a daily basis with their babies, and I’m not referring to a regular dog walk outside for half an hour.

There are people that take their pets with them everywhere, fishing, running, long drives, vacations even at the workplace! When they are gone, some voids appear in their lives, bringing lots of stress and sorrowful days.

Some people think that replacing is a good idea, and they suggest or even surprise the sad owners with a new pet. The grieving process takes time, healing after such painful moments is not happening overnight. Respect this process. You can be there to listen and offer a shoulder.

Let’s share this article so we can make everyone understand the importance of coping and looking after a grieving person.
