Bernie and Diane loved having a large family with five boys, but when their children all grew up, they decided to have a daughter – this time by adoption. So the two attended an adoption event where Diane noticed a black and white photo that had been pasted on a panel. Diane was attracted to the little girl in the picture and thought that meant she had to adopt her.
But the more Bernie and Diane pressured to find out more about the mysterious girl in the picture, the more the social workers tried to persuade them to look for another child, and one even told them, “There’s something wrong with her.”. But despite all the warnings, the two were convinced to find out more about the girl, but nothing could prepare them for the truth.
The two finally found out about an investigation that took place in 2007 that referred to a horrible story about a terrible abuse of a child. The girl in the picture was named Danielle, she had been found in a Florida home at the age of 7 and was considered a wild child. Until that age, she had never been outside, could not speak, answer, or communicate in any way. She could not eat solid food. She had been locked in a room where there was nothing but a dirty mattress. Detective Mark Holste said of the case, which he has been dealing with: “I have been doing this job for 27 years, but so far this is the worst case of negligence I have encountered.”

Danielle’s biological mother lost her parental rights, then was transferred to an asylum. In this way, the picture had reached the panel of the adoption event. Despite Danielle having all sorts of behavioral and developmental issues, Bernie and Diane hurried to adopt her!
What happened is absolutely AMAZING – proof that evil does not always win: Danielle has found a real home and parents who will give her all the support she needs to develop normally from now on.
