How would you feel if you found out you had cancer, especially if you were young? He is Brandon, a boy from Costa Rica who has to face a lot of pain just to fulfill his dreams: to play the guitar, to travel around the world with his father, to finish high school.

In December 2013, he was 15 years old and began to have severe headaches, although doctors initially said they were just migraines, then said it was a swollen lymph node because a swelling appeared on Brandon’s neck.

Suddenly he started to lose weight, after another visit to the doctor, the diagnosis was confirmed: Bradon had pharyngeal cancer, which meant that the tumor had already affected his mouth so much that Brandon could only eat with a straw. being the only object for which there was room.

Brandon then lost 28 kilograms, underwent therapy, managed to gain another 5 kilograms after one year, which made him able to survive a chemotherapy treatment.

The only way Brandon received nutrients was through a catheter, and he accepted that. Fortunately, his classmates held an event that raised enough money to buy Brandon the artificial saliva he needed to survive another cytostatic treatment.

But after a few months, another problem arose. Brandon said his leg hurt, there was another tumor in it, but the good news was that his leg didn’t have to be amputated, even though the child had to spend a lot of time in a wheelchair. His father was with him at all stages.

The cancer also affected his ribs, his hair fell out, but Brandon remained optimistic, he believed that God had a good reason for giving him all these unpleasant experiences.

Thanks to a popular band, Brandon now plays guitar, he was even on stage. Moreover, Brandon managed to finish high school, achieving 2 of the three goals he set for himself. He is still battling the disease, but his father and doctors are confident he will recover.
