Derek McLennan discovered a national treasure three years ago, here’s what it’s all about.
This man, who has a more unusual hobby, had bought a metal detector and wanted to take advantage of a holiday to try it out. In the northern part of Hadrian’s Wall, Scotland, his device started making strange noises.
Derek unearthed what is probably the most important discovery in recent Scottish history. It was an old box full of jewelry dating back to the 10th century!
The man was right and informed the National Museum of Scotland of his incredible accidental discovery, and they were more than happy to learn that Derek was planning to lend them the treasure for them to display in the museum, but…
They also asked the Artifact Council to pay him £ 1.98 million!
