A 38-year-old woman whose name remained unknown was admitted to a hospital in Arizona with severe stomach pain, the woman vomited and was also constipated.

Apparently, she hadn’t eaten in a year and had lost a lot of weight. By the time she was hospitalized alone, she could no longer digest food.
Despite all this, her stomach was very swollen, blocked with fluid and gas.
The British Medical Journal explains that she had a blood transfusion to cure her anemia and was put in surgery, but it was only when they opened her stomach that the cause of the blockage came to light.
It seems that she was suffering from Rapunzel Syndrome, an extremely serious disease that causes people to break their own hair and eat it. Although this symptom is most common in children and adolescents, some adults also develop it, 88 cases have been reported in adults.
The doctors took out of this woman a dense mass measuring 15 cm x 10 cm, she was made of hair, in addition to this was found another similar, but smaller, 4 cm x 3 cm, it was in the intestines. After the hairs were surgically removed, the woman was recommended a high-protein diet and the help of a psychiatrist.
