China’s history dates back several thousand years and the country’s special organs are closely monitoring historical monuments and restoring damaged statues. Most are believed to have been built during the reign of the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century.

Although the resort has been closed to visitors for many years, it will soon open its doors to millions of fascinated and curious tourists. It is believed that the access of visitors has not been allowed so far due to the rehabilitation works that take a very long time, given the immensity of the works of art in the cave.

It is about the Royal Temple in the Longmen Cave (East China) and on March 10 it was opened to visitors. The complex contains 2,300 caves inside the cave and is believed to hide a total of over 110,000 rare ancient statues sculpted in ancient style as well as an impressive collection of medieval Buddhist art.
In 2000 the site was added to the UNESCO Heritage for “amazing manifestation of human creativity.” Experts say that, given the massive nature of the project, it was commissioned by members of royal families and government officials.
