A 5-year-old boy from China destroyed several banknotes worth a total of 50,000 yuan (about 6,500 euros) after being left alone at home.

The boy from Qingdao, Shandong Province, found a stack of 100 yuan banknotes hidden in a drawer and played with them, tearing them to pieces while his parents were not at home, shanghaidaily.com reports.

After discovering his son’s deed, the father, identified as Gao, said he took the banknotes to a bank near the house to help him, but the employees told him that he had to stick the banknotes and then they could exchange them with new ones.

The father tried for two days to reconstitute the banknotes but failed.

“I tried very carefully for about two days, but I could only recover a few. Some were broken into several pieces, and others were broken into more than 10 pieces. It’s too hard,” he said.

The man, who is a businessman, said the money was a loan from the bank.
