Demi Wright was only 22 years old when she died in February last year. A tragic event, but even more tragic is the way it happened, and how everything could have been avoided!
It all started in November 2015, when Demi was complaining of pain in one part of her abdomen. When she noticed that the pain did not go away, she went to a doctor.
Following a test, hormones similar to those found in the body of pregnant women were found in her body, so the doctors, according to Demi’s friends and family, simply assumed that the young woman must be pregnant.
But her pain did not go away, so the doctors decided to take another look at her case and to everyone’s surprise, they did not find a baby in her womb, but a 12-centimeter tumor.
Demi was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called adenocarcinoma, which had spread throughout her body. but all too late, a few months after she was told she was pregnant.
Although this is not the first time a patient has been misdiagnosed and this has led to his death, the tragedy of the situation must remind us that asking for a second opinion on our health can literally save our lives!
