It looks like a creature that is not of this world, but Hercules’s Beetle when he is a pupa develops his exoskeleton inside a cocoon that makes you think he’s an alien.
A Japanese insect lover shared with the internet a video showing the third stage of a Hercules Beetle – the moment when the larva sleeps for at least 18 months while it turns into an adult.

The film was posted on Twitter by Ziya Tong, host of a Canadian nature TV show called Daily Planet.
Hercules’ beetle (Dynastes Hercules) is the most famous and largest of the rhino beetles. It is native to the rainforests of Central America, South America, and the Lesser Antilles. The northernmost range observed in this species is the southern part of Arizona, in the Pima region.
