Several residents of a block of flats in Rome heard their old neighbors crying. If at first, they did not pay attention to the noises, later they were alarmed and considered that it was necessary to call the police to check what is wrong in that house.
They were, in fact, suffering from their loneliness and isolation: all their friends had died or moved, and their relatives lived far away from them and rarely visited them.
After listening to the hardships on their souls, the police offered to prepare lunch for the grandparents and sit next to them at the table. This simple thing essentially meant a lot to the octogenarians: they smiled after a very long time.
When they left, the law enforcement officers promised the elders that they would visit them again.
