In the video below you can see how a beautiful turtle is seriously injured and can barely breathe. After the problem was reported by some passers-by, a team of veterinarians and a team of researchers appeared on the spot.
They initially thought it was a worm, but unfortunately, the little frog had a plastic straw. Once the doctors have made sure that it is not a parasite that could have attached to the turtle’s brain, the process of removing the entire straw begins. This operation takes 10 minutes, during which the turtle goes through terrible torments. The plastic straw is removed by veterinarians infractions, and the whole process made the turtle bleed profusely.
In the end, the straw was removed and Christine Figgener, a renowned expert in turtles tells us that plastic straws are useless and that moreover, they contribute no more and no less than 2.25 trillion pieces of marine litter, both in the seas and oceans.
The case of this turtle is just one of the thousands of cases that happen every day to animals and nature itself, due to human ignorance. It is well known that pollution has reached a very high level and that more and more creatures are suffering.
Change is only in us and in our actions and it is very important to think about those around us before proceeding in a certain way. Nowadays, plastic straws can be replaced with glass/iron ones, plastic bags can be replaced with fabric ones, reusable, and so on.
