After a few months of pregnancy, during a routine medical check-up, a terrible thing was discovered!

When April found out she was pregnant, it was the day when her biggest dream and mission was to be a mother.

After a few months of pregnancy, however, during a routine medical check-up, a terrible thing was discovered: a tumor developed and grew very quickly in the baby’s lungs. Urgent surgery was needed while the baby was still in the womb. But the operation was very dangerous.

The chance of the child surviving after the operation was only 50%, but without the operation, he would have died for sure. April accepted the risk and the operation took place. The intervention was very difficult and there were many complications. But the doctors did their best and so the child survived.

One of the little one’s lungs had been broken after the operation and April continued her pregnancy, being closely monitored by doctors. 7 weeks before term, little Elijah was born. This was a great joy for the whole family, but the magnifying glass for the baby’s life continued.

After the birth, he was taken to the intensive care unit. The fight for his life continued there. All this time, Jason, the baby’s father, sat next to his son and read him stories. His father’s voice helped Elijah fall asleep faster. The first months of the child’s life were very complicated. He could not swallow and be fed intravenously.

He had to learn to eat and drink on his own. It wasn’t easy, but after a while, Elijah managed to do it.

Here’s a picture of little Elijah on his second birthday. He looks a little younger for his age, however, with each passing day he grows more and gets better health. Even if he is still sick, the child loves to have fun and is a beautiful child!

The little one’s health is not perfect yet, but what was harder has already passed. Even though he had a very difficult start in life, Elijah always has his loving parents by his side, who are ready to do anything for him!

The little one still does not have a normal height and weight for his age. But doctors are confident that in the coming years he will catch up with children his age. Possibly, he will even surpass them!

An experience worth sharing, because all three are fighters.
