In September last year, Gemma Holmes was driving her scooter in Hilperton, UK, when she hit a parked car. The impact threw her over a crowded road and then collided with a pole. Holmes suffered serious injuries, including severe head and back injuries. In a coma, the 26-year-old was transported by helicopter to the hospital where doctors did not think she would survive.
However, remarkably, three months after the accident, the woman woke up from a coma, and not only was she alive, but she was also 4 months pregnant. According to SWNS, Holmes was suffering from amnesia and could not remember what had happened in the last three years, including how she met the father of her child. (The father was then located, but he and the young woman are no longer together.)
Here is what the girl confessed after the doctors warned her that keeping the child could hurt her: “I was in shock when I found out. I thought that if this child survived such a horrible accident, then this must happen, he must be born. When I first saw him, I couldn’t stop crying, because he is my little miracle child. I was so happy to see him after everything that happened. Rueben is the best thing that ever happened to me. In a few months, doctors will have to break her back again to place small pieces of metal in it, which, one day, could help her to be able to walk again in about two and a half years.
