A 19-years-old teenager was recently released from prison – over 40 interviews and still can’t get a job because of his looks
A prison is a place where people change a lot. Due to the time they are locked up, they can reflect on the bad things they have done and accept, assume and change. In the case of this young man from New Zealand, the time spent in prison was mentally productive, because he rehabilitated himself and became a better person, but at the same time, the time spent there changed him physically in a way that made it very, very difficult for him to find a job. But after all, he did that to himself, not thinking long-term.
Mark Cropp, a former detainee almost 20 years old, went through very difficult times, mostly of a financial and social nature, due to his tattoo on his face. Mark couldn’t get a job because of the word he put on half of his face “devast8”, which is part of what he felt in prison. He was jailed for two years for armed robbery.

After his release, he vowed not to get in trouble and focus on the good side, and taking good care of his gorgeous newborn daughter. Mark went to a lot of interviews but all the employers refused him because of his tattoo and criminal record. After attending more than 40 interviews with which he received negative responses, Mark decided to post on his social media page about the problem he faces in trying to earn an honest penny. To his surprise, someone behaved like a good Samaritan and finally offered to help him. He regained his hope at that moment.

Briar Neville, the owner of a tattoo parlor, offered in a comment on the post published by Mike to remove the tattoo from his face for free. Mike contacted her and the woman explained that it would not be a simple procedure, because the ink used is made of molten plastic, a material often used in prisons for tattoos. It is not very difficult to produce a tattoo machine in prison, and among the materials used to build such a tattoo machine, they use pens, magnets, and paper clips.
Finally, Mike was contacted by a construction company who found his story and decided to give him a chance to work for his family. That well-known phrase, after every storm the sun appears Mike, head up! Pass this story to your friends and family!
