It is known that Brazil is a beautiful country, full of culture, traditions, and beautiful people. Particularly good food, breathtaking scenery, and lots of places to visit, make Rio de Janeiro, a city in southern Brazil the perfect place to visit. But not everything is sugar and pillows. Well, this city is also well known for its violence, for the street brawl between the clans, and for the fact that innocent people are sometimes caught between the bullets, putting their lives in danger. A poor woman felt it on her skin. She just wanted to buy the necessary things from the store and unfortunately, she ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Claudine dos Santos Melo was nine months pregnant and the pregnancy was scheduled after a few days. She had been out of the house for no more than half an hour to buy what she needed from a nearby store when she was suddenly caught in the middle of an exchange of fire between two rival groups.

A bullet pierced her hip and hit the fetus. She was rushed to the local hospital and treated with the utmost care, and Dr. José Carlos Oliveira said that the baby’s lung and spine were hit, leaving him paralyzed. But, he continued, it may not be something permanent, it is possible that the little one will recover in time, considering that he is growing and that he can regenerate.

The baby was born successfully and now he is stable and can breathe without artificial help, and this is amazing considering that his lungs were also hit by a bullet. The mother is also well, but she is afraid to leave the house, after the last experience. Little Arthur is making progress and they hope he gets better.
