Shelters are so devoted to the wellbeing of animals and often they organize volunteer work, and with their work, they definitely make a change in the world. Some of them have limited space and its difficult to refuse poor animals that need medical assistance and a temporary home. According to the Humane Society of the U.S, there are about 70 million stray animals living on the streets, and from this amount, only up to eight million dogs and cats enter the 3,500 shelters available nationwide.
Some people don’t take into consideration if there is space or not, they just leave a basket full of puppies at the doorstep, taped at the top so they won’t evade, making it very hard to breathe, not saying about the temperature outside.
Paws and Hooves Rescue Foundation’s shelter in Stilwell, Oklahoma could bet what can be found inside the pink container they found in the morning at the doorstep of the building. They expected right, puppies. When the rescuers removed the cap of the container, the small pups gasped for air, stretching their necks outside, searching for fresh air. Clearly, the little puppies needed medical attention and after the vets checked them, some of them were about to die because of no oxygen and dehydration.

Lucky for them, the caretakers were truly devoted to offering them the best help, and with lots of love and care, they managed to save all of them. It’s very sad to hear that there are people out there with no hearts, abandoning them in such an unmerciful way. The pile of fluffy cuties was placed in their temporary home and hopefully, someone will come over and give them a forever home.
When pets are abandoned, they will feel confused and its a very big emotional impact for them, because they are removed basically from the only pack they knew and loved, therefore, severe health changes can appear because of the behavior changes. Animals are able to feel similar emotions like fear, pain, and abandonment, and they never forget their first owner, they can even suffer from anxiety. Remember, you can always ask before abandoning a pet. Ask a friend, a no-kill shelter, talk to your family. There are so many options you can choose from, don’t take the first and easiest one, which after all is also illegal. All dogs deserve to be loved.
