A Montana family had a shocking experience this summer. On Sunday, the Holmes family was preparing a barbecue.
The parents were in the kitchen preparing the meat and sauces for the barbecue, and their 9-year-old son Zack stayed in the yard to gather wood for the barbecue.
The family’s dog, a pit bull named Rosco, was sitting very close to the child and did not escape him, as if he felt that something was wrong. It turned out that Rosco’s instincts did not deceive him.

As if out of nowhere, a cougar jumped on Zack and knocked him to the ground. Rosco intervened immediately, the cougar left the child and a fight began between Rosco and the cougar.
Little Zack immediately ran in the house to his parents. Rosco continued to fight the cougar until a neighbor intervened and shot the animal.

“I was gathering wood in the yard when suddenly I felt a strong blow and I was knocked to the ground. I didn’t even know what happened, then I saw Rosco jump on the cougar. That’s when I managed to escape to the house. “ said, Zack.
Rosco suffered deep scratches on his face and head and was taken to a nearby veterinary clinic. When he returned from the clinic, Zack was waiting for him with the biggest steak, which rewards him for his deed.
“Since we live here, it has never happened that a cougar enters our yard. I’ve seen many cougars nearby, in the woods or on the forest road, but this is the first time something like this has happened,” said Zack’s father.

“The animal was extremely aggressive, it fought Rosco for good minutes, while I was trying to hit the cougar with a shovel. He had stuck his claws well and wouldn’t let go of Rosco. If it weren’t for Rosco, Zach would have had no chance. We are grateful to him forever, he is the best and bravest dog in the world “
