A dachshund named Georgie was rescued a while ago by 63-year-old Charmaine Keevy, resident of Port Elizabeth. The woman was about to find out that the little doggie will pay the good deed forward. What happened next is absolutely amazing, nothing short of a miracle.
One morning Georgie and his owner went for a routine walk when the dog noticed something strange on a storm drain and began barking at it louder and louder. Charmaine heard some meowing sounds coming from the drain and got on the ground to check if there was a cat stuck in there. She was absolutely shocked to find out that the sounds were actually that of a newborn baby crying.

The drain had a concrete slab covering it so Charmaine needed help quickly. She immediately flagged down a car and ask the driver for help. The driver was a man named Cornie Viljoen. Cornie had a steel bar in his car and they used it to open the concrete slab. After they opened it they discovered that the drain was more than 8-feet deep and was infested with armies of red ants. But Cornie jumped in without a second thought and was stung by hundreds of army ants.
“When I got into the hole it was higher than my head and it was so narrow that I had to go down on my knees and I couldn’t bend over so had to feel down for the baby below,” he told DailyMail. “The red ants were stinging my legs but then I felt this baby’s leg and then saw the baby and I realized that this was a crime scene so I took a flash picture and handed my phone up to Charmaine. I didn’t know if the baby was injured so I tried to pick her up very carefully and very slowly and she was so small. I just wanted to hold her for a while but I knew that she needed urgent medical help.”

It was a miracle that the red ants hadn’t stung the baby yet. The newborn baby was completely naked and had the umbilical cord still attached. Charmaine and Cornie called the police department immediately. The police and ambulance arrived soon to take the baby to the nearest hospital.
Police said in their report that the only possible way for the baby to have gotten in that storm drain is if someone had placed her there and then covered the drain with that concrete slab.
“There is a possibility that the person who did this may have come from outside the area and placed the child there. We are appealing for witnesses and the mother of this baby to come forward.” police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.
At the hospital, they estimated the baby had been in the freezing water for at least 8 hours. They treated the baby for respiratory problems and hypothermia.
Charmaine, thinks it was fate that brought her and Georgie to the baby, as she usually takes the dog on a different walking route.
They named the baby Grace April! We are very glad the baby survived this horrible experience and we are thankful to Georgie, Charmaine, and Cornie for their alertness and quick thinking.

„SHE IS ALIVE!!!!! If you are reading this please share on your timeline. I have been so saddened by the negative talk with regardS to the little miracle baby found in Lorraine. I saw her yesterday … she is alive and snug in an incubator. Yes, they had to stabilize HER after being found which was understandable. Please be responsible for what you post. I am totally astounded at the negativity on social media. Why do we love the negative, why can we not focus on the miracle of her being found? She is a precious little girl handpicked by God for such a time like this … she has a purpose and a destiny. So let us support the beautiful testimony that God is unfolding. 😊😊😊 let us all see if we can spread this positive message as quickly as the negative messages we have been reading! GOD is FAITHFUL. HE IS GOOD … HE LOVES HER”
