Only 35 ml of blood was found in the body of little Frankie Morrison when she was born. That means about 2 tablespoons as measured, 7 times less than an ordinary newborn.
Her mother, Maria Sanders, 32, needed an emergency cesarean section after doctors discovered that Frankie had not moved in her mother’s womb for two days due to lack of blood.
Mary and her life partner, Chris, 33, we’re told to expect the worst. But little Morrison managed to survive and now it’s a year since she was born.
Her mother recounts how when she came out of the cesarean section, she saw that the people around her were crying and told her to go and see her because she looked bad. When she went to see her, she froze because she was connected to infusions and was very swollen in her belly because of the amount of water she had in her body instead of blood.
The doctors told them that if Frankie survived, she would be either tied to a wheelchair or with brain damage.
But after two blood transfusions, the little girl began to recover and was given the OK to be taken home.
One year after her birth, the only repercussion that the little girl suffers is a weaker immune system than the other children and that’s it. The rest is very good.
“The doctor burst into tears when we went to see her at 6 months of age, because she couldn’t believe she was so well, considering her a miracle. We are the luckiest people in the world “, says the girl’s mother.
