When architect Ricardo Bofill accidentally came across an abandoned cement factory in 1975, he saw the huge potential it had, so he decided to turn it into an amazing way.

The factory, located in Catalonia, Spain, was built during the First World War but was still in decent shape. Here is what the architect wrote on his website: “We found waste, a huge, smoky basket, four kilometers of underground tunnels, rooms for machines that were still in good condition. I was seduced by the contradictions and ambiguity of the place, so I decided to buy it and modify its original structure a bit, I turned it into a work of art ”.

“Nowadays I have lived and worked here more than anywhere else. For me, it is the only place where I can concentrate and where I can associate abstract ideas ”.
