A resident of Martinsburg, Virginia, USA, tells how one morning he saw a very old woman walking slowly on the road. The young driver was initially scared, wanting to get around her and move on, but at the last moment, he decided to find out if the old woman needed help.

When the car reached the old woman, the driver opened the window and asked her if everything was fine. She replied that she was simply going to a store in Hedgesville. “I couldn’t believe it,” the driver recalls. – You can drive to Hedgesville in 10 minutes, but on foot… ”Among other things, the woman explained that she was from Hedgesville, but after the death of her son she was accommodated in Martinsburg, where she knows absolutely no one.

The driver felt sorry for the old woman and he decided to take her there. She accepted and in the 10 minutes it took her to tell the young man about her life.
Her name is Isabelle, she is 93 years old and she is a Native American. Isabelle first married when she was 13 years old. She had five husbands and they all died.
“She is a wonderful storyteller. Her words were full of humor and life! ” – says the young driver.
The young man liked Isabelle’s company so much that he decided to be her driver. He took her to the store and told her he would wait for her to drive her home. And how amazed he was when Isabelle returned with just one purchase – a can of instant coffee. Only for that coffee did the old woman plan to walk for a few hours, from one city to another.
Apparently, the woman couldn’t remember where she lived, so she asked, “But do you know where I live?” The young driver replied, “I don’t know, but let’s just go and maybe you’ll remember.” He hadn’t been upset with the old woman, especially since she was already telling him about her incredible life.
Isabelle said that at the age of 12 she worked on a farm, where she met a young man, whom she loved all her life. But they were not destined to be together: she was Native American, and he was white, and their relationship was forbidden.
A little later she remembered the address of her house. When the car stopped near the house, she told the driver, “I don’t know where you came from, but I’m very grateful you’re here.” The young man left her his phone number so she could call him when she needed help.

Later, telling this story on his Facebook page, the young man wrote: “Most likely, she will not call me and I will never see her again. But the time I spent with her was the most amazing adventure of my life. I traveled with her in the past, in her world, about which I knew absolutely nothing. I hope she’s fine. She is wonderful. ”
